CANVAS FABRIC

Canvas is traditionally made from cotton or linen which are natural fibres however modern versions may blend in polyester for extra strength or water resistance.

Due to its organic roots , it is eco-friendly option as 100% cotton or linen canvas is biodegradable and natural. Natural fabrics are breathable, making it excellent choice for close to body garments.

To give it extra strength and structure, canvas fabrics are woven using a plain weave (over and under pattern) while others can be duck canvas, which is a tighter, smoother weave than regular canvas.

Canvas is durable and long-lasting. It withstands heavy use and wear. It could be water-resistant (with treatment) and waxed or coated for outdoor use.

Creative use of canvas incudes its susceptibility to be painted & dyed on. Great for artists’ canvases and printed products.

Uses of Canvas Fabric

Canvas comes in various weights measured in ounces per square yard, the higher the oz, the heavier and thicker.

Mid weight (9–12 oz) is used for making totes, backpacks, upholstery and workwear.
