COTTON CARE
Caring for cotton fabric helps maintain its appearance, softness, and durability over time. Cotton is a natural fibre therefore relatively easy to care for however it still requires attention to a few key details to preserve its quality.
WASHING
Cotton have shrinking properties especially when exposed to high temperature therefore it is recommended to wash cotton fabrics in cold or warm water rather than hot. Cotton can be machine washed but separating whites and colours is essential as cotton tends to absorb dyes more readily than synthetic fibres. Over time coloured cotton items may fade thus using a gentle detergent, washing inside out and avoiding prolonged sun exposure when drying can help preserve colour vibrancy.
DRYING
To preserve the fabric quality it is best to air or tumble dry cotton on a low heat setting. Removing cotton clothes from the dryer while they’re still slightly damp and hanging or laying them flat to finish drying helps to maintain smooth surface and ease and ironing.
Applying high temperatures while ironing or steaming on a slightly damp cloth can improve results. Ironing on the reverse side of the fabric helps prevent shine. It is advisable to always follow the care label instructions, as some cotton blends may require lower temperatures.
STORAGE
Cotton should be stored in a cool, dry place, folded neatly or hung. It is discouraged to use plastic bags or containers as they can trap moisture and encourage mildew. With proper care, cotton fabric remains comfortable, clean and long-lasting.
